🥁 Friday, Oct. 7 & Saturday, Oct. 8 – What happens when Indian sarod and tabla meet Middle Eastern oud and darbuka? Find out at the South Asia Institute (1925 South Michigan Ave.) Friday at 7 p.m. East Meets Middle East (EMME), a musical collective celebrating the rich traditions and music of the Middle East and South Asia, will perform. Saturday, there will be a workshop and performance by EMME at the art studio Midnight Tea (410 South Michigan Avenue Studio #825) starting at 3 p.m.
🍴Sunday, Oct. 9 – Get a bite of Filipino and Polish cuisine at A Taste of Two Cultures. Besides the pierogi and lumpia, you can also enjoy some musical and cultural performances. The event will be at the Polish Museum of America (984 North Milwaukee Ave.) from 2 to 4 p.m.
🎥 October 12 to 23 – The Chicago International Film Festival returns for its 58th year with more than 90 feature films and 60 short films from around the globe, ranging from documentaries to dramas. Check out the full schedule. The film festival is presented by Cinema/Chicago.
