⚖️ Thursday, Oct. 27 – Learn how pardons can be used to stop deportations. Hear from lawyers and others who have gone through the process during Unraveling La PoliMigra: Pardon for Jair! / Desenredando La PoliMigra: ¡Indulto para Jair. Jair Arnold Castillo was deported to Colombia — a country he hadn’t been to since he was 3 months old — in 2020. Now he is fighting to be able to rejoin his siblings in Chicago. This free, virtual event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is hosted by Organized Communities Against Deportations. Learn more about Jair’s story at BringJairHome.com.
🌹 Saturday, Oct. 29 – The National Museum of Mexican Art (1852 W. 19th Street) will transform into a place for remembering the lives of loved ones for Día de los Muertos Xicágo. This free event is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes live music, art activities and a large ofrenda created by community members.
🌳 Saturday, Oct. 29 – Help clean up Calumet Beach with Alliance of the Southeast, Southeast Youth Alliance and the Shedd Aquarium! The cleanup will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Halloween celebration until 12:30 p.m. Food will be provided by Taco Sublime Chicago. RSVPs are required.
