Michelle Kanaar/Borderless MagazineFrom legal aid to mental health support, here’s a list of mutual aid groups in Chicago that are stepping up to help communities impacted by immigration raids and federal policy changes.
Editor’s note 7/09/26: This list has been updated and will continue to be updated.
As President Donald Trump’s administration heightened its immigration enforcement efforts across Chicago, community members have stepped in to support those impacted by these raids — providing mutual aid through mental health resources, food, clothing, legal clinics and ICE watch patrols. Now, more people across the country are joining mutual aid groups amid federal changes to help their neighbors.
These groups emerged from informal networks and differ from incorporated nonprofits and charities, which typically focus on the needs of an individual group or person rather than the community as a whole.
Borderless Magazine has compiled a list of mutual aid groups in Chicago that are building community security and safety. To donate or request assistance, look up your neighborhood below and find a mutual aid group near you.
