How to Keep Safe in the Heat:

  • Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and coffee
  • Wear sunscreen and sun-protective clothing while outside
  • Stay inside, if you can
  • If you work outside, take frequent breaks in an air-conditioned area or in the shade
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle
  • Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors (you can call 311 to request an official well-being check on someone, if you can’t reach them)
  • Know the signs of heatstroke
