Borderless Magazine is excited to welcome Natalie “Nati” Giustini to our growing development team.
As our Development Associate, Giustini will oversee development operations and support the execution of Borderless’s fundraising strategy.
A proud daughter of a Colombian immigrant, she was drawn to Borderless’s mission of reimagining immigration journalism and the nonprofit’s unique approach to storytelling.
“I’m honored and excited to be joining Borderless during this critical juncture in our organization’s history,” Giustini said. “In a time where noise and rhetoric cloud public debate, our fact-based journalism cuts through, filling key knowledge gaps. By investing in strong fundraising systems, we can ensure that our work is sustained, and no story goes untold.”
News that puts power under the spotlight and communities at the center.

Giustini previously worked as Associate Director of Strategy and Operations at CCS Fundraising, a global fundraising consulting firm. In that role, she provided tailored operations support to nonprofit clients and fundraising consultants as they designed and implemented major philanthropic initiatives.
She joins the nonprofit newsroom’s growing development team led by Chief Development Officer CJ Ortuño. The expansion comes at a pivotal moment as Borderless continues to cover immigration and immigrant communities in Chicago.
“We are only able to invest in a sustainable newsroom because of generous support from people and organizations who believe in our mission,” Ortuño said. “Nati and I take seriously the stewarding of the dollars entrusted to us with care and compassion. With her on the team, we will be able to do more and fuel the ambitious goals of our editorial team.”
Giustini holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Global Studies from the University of Chicago. During her time on campus, she worked with several Chicago-based organizations, including a community organizing collective, a youth development nonprofit, and a political fundraising firm. These experiences shaped her dedication to the nonprofit sector and her love for the city.
Outside of work, Giustini enjoys classic rock, exploring Chicago and learning about art history. She can be reached at [email protected].
