Brian Nazario was 9 years old when he tattooed for the first time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With his mom\u2019s sewing kit, he and his friends poked designs of small crosses, praying hands and neighborhood names on themselves. He says these symbols, alongside graffiti and music, represent his corner of Albany Park \u2014 a neighborhood in Chicago\u2019s Northwest Side where almost half of all residents are Hispanic or Latino.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll of these people around me in my neighborhood, in my barrio, were just hungry to wear these things that were close to them,\u201d Nazario said. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
